A Word Of Encouragement
Everything we design here at No 25 is inspired by God. I pray before commencing any design and I truly could not do anything creative without him. The design opposite was never intended to be a dress. I sourced this linen fabric to design and create a night gown. The soft pink taffeta fabric is attached to the high waist line and the border has been hand embroidered using organza ribbon turned into flourishes of flowers with seed beading, and French knots.
Embellished Motif
Do you believe that It is never to late to learn something new. I am living proof of that. As a Christian woman and mother of two son's, and four grandchildren and my husbands support I decided to begin another adventure. My goal was not only to start a new business venture but to inspire womens creativity and imagination. This would be achieved by wetting their appetite with the ambition of captivating them into the mesmerising world of lingerie, sleepware, textiles, hand embroidery and embellishments.
Starting A Business
This was not an easy task. Like alot of individuals the question is where do you start? Having a desire for various handmade crafts It was about finding my niche area. This took me around 2 years to discover what I really wanted to zone into. Having an intense passion for home interiors, hand embroidery, textiles, fabrics, embellishments made it quite difficult initially about how to execute my ideas.
As seen in the photo to the left I began by embroidering and painting homeware accessories such as linen, cotton napkins, and painting fabric. However, whilst enjoying doing this it took months for me to discover this was not my ultimate desire until being reminded about this bible verse taken from Matthew 9:17 that new wine cannot be preserved in old wine skin which led me to change my perspective from embellishing homeware to fashion and undergarments which I had never considered before.
At last, after about 6 - 7 years I had found what intrigued me most and would eventually incorporate all the skills that I learned within designing and making lingerie and sleepware.
If you have an idea about the business you would like to do please do not give up. Turn up everyday or as much as you can and produce, and create something you enjoy with all your heart. This is the first key to creating a beautiful business and products. It is not just about making money it really is about finding your gifting and using that gift to enhance your life and the life of others.
